Shark Bay World Heritage Area

Yesterday we left Carnarvon and drove south west to the Hamelin Pool in the Shark Bay World Heritage Area to see the oldest and largest display of stromatolites.  Stromatolites are living fossils and are monuments to life on Earth 3 500 million years ago when no other creatures were present.  They were really weird looking and looked like rocks.
I took this photo for my Uncle Bruce who loves gnomes.  These ones were at a lookout on our way to Denham.  People just leave them here.  It is called Gnomeville

Today we travelled towards Denham and stopped at Shell Beach.  Denham is the furthest town west in Australia.

Shell Beach was really cool!  There was no sand only piles and piles of shells everywhere.  All you could hear when you were walking along the beach was the crunch of shells.  The shells were nearly all white.  It was really beautiful.  Pop and I had fun skimming flat shells along the top of the water.

All the little cockle shells

We are now on our way south to Kalbarri and Kalbarri National Park.  Till next time!

Goodbye for now
