Exmouth and the Cape Range National Park

We left Onslow and travelled south west to Exmouth.  On our way I saw lots of sheep and emus.  Sometimes the emus come into Exmouth and walk around the streets which must look really funny!  When we got to Exmouth we drove to Yardie Creek Homestead Park to stay.  The park is close to Cape Range National Park.

The next day we rode our motor scooters into Cape Range National Park to see Turquoise Bay.  Turquoise Bay has nice white sand with aqua blue water and a coral reef surrounding it.  Lots of people were out snorkelling on the reef but we didn't because it was really windy and cold.

The next morning we went on a Whale Shark tour with Exmouth Diving Centre.  On the boat we put on our diving suits and our snorkelling gear and went for a morning snorkel on the Ningaloo Reef.

While I was snorkelling I saw lots of black and white striped fish, blue fish, angel fish of yellow and black, and a seahorse.
The water is cloudy because the coral was spawning at the time.  The parrot fish is at the top right hand side.

I also saw really nice coral of purple blue green, and yellow and a massive round coral the size of a large boulder.
My favourite was the parrot fish which was all the colours of the rainbow.

We look pretty scary!
Out on the ocean we saw a Manta Ray and lots of Humpback Whales breaching.

I loved watching a large whale come right up out of the water and flip over on its back.  We also saw a pod of Spinner Dolphins and one somersaulted in mid air.

Unfortunately our plane spotters couldn’t find any Whale Sharks for us to swim with that day.  Whale Sharks are the largest fish in the world.  They are harmless to humans and can grow up to 18 metres in length.  I was really disappointed but we have free vouchers to come back and try again another time within the next three years.
The Whale Shark we didn't see :(
 Farvel (Norwegian for goodbye)
