Point Quobba Blowholes

We drove south west to Carnarvon on the coast.

Carnarvon is near the Tropic of Capricorn and is known as the food bowl of Western Australia because it grows lots of fruit and vegetables.  We went to the visitor centre to get information on things to do and see.

We decided to drive up north along the coast to Point Quobba Blowholes.  Pop decided to take a shortcut on a muddy road which soon became swamped in water.  The water started to get deep so Pop had to go around the road.  It was really fun because the motorhome was slipping and sliding in the mud.  I was laughing all the time.

On the way we saw a pink lake.  The lake was pink because the algae grown in the lake mixes with the salt water and the lake turns pink.

At the blowholes it was super windy!  The waves were crashing and smashing in the cliffs and coming up into the blowholes.  The noise of the water coming up sounded like a jet engine.  The jet of water shot out of the holes about 15 metres into the air and water sprayed everywhere.  It was really awesome!

King waves are a huge wave that can happen at any time.  People have been killed here by king waves.
